About Keshani…

Keshani Douglas

Keshani Douglas is a British contemporary artist, born in London and based in Wiltshire, who also works from a studio on Gozo in the Maltese islands. Self-taught and from an artistic family, she brings an instinctive approach to her work, drawing inspiration from everyday observations - people, places and moments that capture her attention.

Keshani was greatly influenced by her late grandfather, Harold Philip Matthews who was Head of Painting at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts and was associated with the Euston Road circle of artists.

She works across soft pastel, oil, acrylics and inks, exploring colour, light, movement and expressive mark-making. Her work moves between Impressionism and abstraction, with subjects ranging from figures and interiors to landscapes, still life and city scenes.

Keshani works between her studios in Wiltshire and Gozo in the Maltese islands. The contrasting landscapes, colours and quality of light in these two locations provide an ongoing source of inspiration. Her work is held in public and private collections in the UK and internationally. She exhibits regularly through galleries and selected exhibitions.
